A commercial building along Luthuli Avenue in Nairobi’s Central Business District caught fire late Saturday evening, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and causing panic among traders and pedestrians in the area.
The blaze erupted near the Munyu Road junction, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Fire engines and rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the scene, with crews working to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. Authorities have advised motorists to steer clear of the area while operations continue.
“The cause of the fire and extent of damage are yet to be established, and there were no immediate reports of injuries,” officials confirmed.
Emergency responders are closely monitoring the situation, coordinating efforts to safeguard people and property. Traders and residents in the vicinity were seen evacuating shops and offices as smoke filled the streets.
Further updates are expected as fire teams continue their work to control the blaze and assess the impact on the building and surrounding areas.
